Q. How do I find a VSP doctor?
A. For a list of VSP network doctors near you click here. You’ll get quality care and the greatest coverage and savings with a certified VSP® doctor. Please be aware if you choose to go to an out-of-network provider, you’ll have to submit your claims yourself and will be reimbursed at lesser out-of-network coverage amounts.
Q. Where do I get information about my individual plan?
A. An email with plan details is sent 2-3 business days after your online enrollment and includes your Member ID and effective date. Once your plan is effective, register on our member website, vsp.com, using your Member ID. There you can find details about your specific coverage, view special offers and update your payment information. Please note that you cannot register at vsp.com until your plan is effective. Click here to Create an account, or if you’ve already created one, click “LOGIN” in the upper right hand corner of our secure vsp.com site and go to “My Account.” If you still have questions, call Member Services at 800.785.0699 Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Central Time.
Q. How soon after I buy an individual plan can I use my benefits?
A. If you enrolled today and chose the 1st of this current month for your effective date, then you can begin using benefits in 5 business days. If you chose the 1st of the next month, you’ll need to wait for that date to begin using benefits. At that point you can make your appointment with the doctor (allowing 5 business days from enrollment for processing).
Q. How do I get my ID card?
A. Member ID cards are e-mailed in your welcome packet 2-3 business days after your online enrollment. You can also receive services without a card by simply giving your name and birthdate at your doctor’s office; they’ll take care of the rest.
Q. How do I use my individual plan?
A. With VSP doctors, you’ll receive services at rates well below walk-in prices, and you don’t even need an ID card—any VSP doctor can access your plan coverage. Once your plan is effective, be sure to register at vsp.com to review your plan coverage and get special offers. Then all you have to do is make your appointment, get your exam, select your glasses or contacts, and the doctor’s office will take care of the rest directly with us. Be sure to ask them about extra discounts and savings! You pay any copays or overage at the doctor’s office, and you’re done. It’s that simple.
Q. Is my plan good at chain optical centers like Costco, Walmart, Cohen’s, etc.?
A. Large chain optical centers such as Costco, Sears, Walmart, Cohen’s, etc. are not in-network for plans sold on this site. Please be aware if you choose to go to an out-of-network provider, you’ll have to submit the claims yourself and will be reimbursed at lesser out-of-network coverage amounts.
